PRIMARY school children are to join Walthamstow MP Neil Gerrard and Greenpeace volunteers to plant an apple tree as a sign of protest against the third Heathrow runway.
Pupils from Hillyfields Primary School will take part in a special tree planting ceremony on November 21.
Another tree has been planted in Sipson, the village threatened with demolition if the new runway is built.
An orchard was also planted by celebrities and politicians earlier this month on the site.
Richard Cox, who first bred Cox apples in the 1850s, is buried on the site and his body will have to be exhumed if construction goes ahead.
Apple trees will be planted across the UK in the coming weeks as a mark of solidarity for Sipson.
