HAVE any of your readers noticed that the colour/power of some of the street lights have changed?
They used to give off a low orange light. Now on the northern stretch of Larkshall Road and Friday Hill the new lights give a very bright, harsh, floodlight-white light. You could almost drive without your lights on. It must be like permanent daylight if you live along these roads.
I would guess that the council will claim that they have installed eco-friendly long-life bulbs. But what about the light pollution? I have written before about the light pollution from Chingford station. It would seem that eventually we will never know a dark night as the whole area will be ablaze with eco-friendly long life bulbs.
Why not after midnight or an agreed time have every other lampost turned off, saving on power and light pollution?
