REVISED plans to turn a garage into a dental surgery have failed to win over neighbours concerned about traffic problems.

One year ago this month, Anu Sood's plans for 31 Lindsey Street, in Epping, were turned down by the district council over fears for highways safety.

A new application with a different access point to the site is now recommended for approval, although neighbours are unimpressed with the revised plan.

Sharon Snooks, who lives next door, said: “If you look at the size of that drive it's just not big enough. There's her car there and there's always two other cars. There'll be a dental nurse, a receptionist, maybe a hygienist. Where are the patients going to park? Either across the road or on the main road.

“When that house was being renovated the builders parked there and it caused congestion all the time. If there was an emergency there's no way they'd be able to get a fire engine up there.”

Geoff King, who lives in Beulah Road opposite the proposed development, said: “We objected last time exactly the same. There's bound to be additional traffic and parking, and it's going to make exiting this road much more difficult and give rise to potential accidents. It's quite a difficult exit here anyway.”

Alexander Gibb, of Lindsey Street, said: “We've got a huge problem with parking already. Cars are parked at a narrow part of the street and vehicles exiting on to the road will cause a problem.”

Councillors are due to decide on the application next Wednesday (November 25).

Anu Sood has yet to comment.
