REPRESENTATIVES of a Walthamstow college have helped to launch London mayor Boris Johnson's latest 'CitySafe Haven' for young people in fear of their lives.
Part of a scheme encouraging businesses to offer sanctuary to young people in streets where teenagers have been murdered, students and staff from Sir George Monoux College attended a special event at City Hall.
City Hall is set to become the 200th 'haven' in the capital under a London Citizens' initiative launched in 2007.
A total of 12 members of London Citizens, a charity working for social, economic and environmental justice, have been murdered since then.
Students at Sir George Monoux are also backing the London Citizens drive for safer streets by campaigning on behalf of Waltham Forest Council for more police.
