GOLFERS clubbed together to host their very own art exhibition, leaving organisers amazed by their success.
Members of Theydon Bois Golf Club, displayed more than 250 paintings as well as jewellery and craft exhibits at their club house, in Theydon Road, Epping.
A preview night on Friday for members and their friends was attended by over 100 people, and on Saturday the public were invited in to admire the works, which were also up for sale.
Every medium of painting imaginable was represented including water colours, oil paintings and acrylic work, and there was also photography and embroidery on offer.
Co-organiser Alan Barrington said: “Because we have got 400 to 500 members we thought it'd be nice to see what they did in their spare time and what the response would be.
“The feedback was absolutely tremendous, so much so that many people asked us when we would do the next one. When they were leaving, everyone said 'what fantastic paintings'. They were very impressed with the quality.
“There aren't many places in the district where the public are invited to see art, and because it was the golf club you could enjoy the views of the course and there were snacks and drinks.”
“We might host another one next year.”
