TOTTENHAM Hotspur goalkeeper Carlo Cudicini is recovering at home after his horrific motorcycle crash earlier this month.

The Italian stopper was discharged from hospital on Friday last week after crashing his high-performance bike into a car in Forest Road, near the Woodford-Walthamstow border, on November 12.

The 36-year-old player broke both wrists and badly injured his pelvis in the accident, prompting fears that his career could be over.

He underwent surgery the day after the crash at The Princess Grace Hospital near Regent's Park in central London. He is already moving around on crutches and is now expected to make a good recovery, although it is still too early to tell if he will play again.

In a club statement he said: “The current position is that the operations went very well and I am already moving my wrist. Regarding the pelvis, I am waiting to see the surgeon later on, but from what he said to me last time he would like to check on me every month and, at the end of the 12 weeks, now 11, I will be able to move without the crutches and free to begin my preparations.

“You don't want to have an accident like this to check out how much people love you! But I have to say that the response has been unbelievable and I have received many emails and cards from team-mates, Tottenham and Chelsea fans, people who work at both clubs – and also from people who don't support Tottenham or Chelsea.

“All in all it has been a touching reaction from people who support football in general.”

Cudicini signed from Tottenham in August 2009 on a free transfer from Chelsea. He began in his professional career at AC Milan and has been capped once by the Italian national side.
