DEBDEN Park High School has won the tenth annual Epping Forest Schools Parliamentary Debating Competition.
Pupils from from West Hatch High, Debden Park High, St John's, Chigwell School and Davenant Foundation School split into two teams to debate a motion over whether the United Nations "should prioritise poverty reduction over combating climate change" at the competition last week.
Debden pupils Andrew Cathall and Alex Gould, who were on the team debating against the motion, were crowned the overall winners.
A team from Chigwell School, which hosted the event, was declared the runner-up.
Epping Forest MP Eleanor Laing congratulated the winners, and said: "I think it was one of the liveliest debates we've ever had.
"I was very impressed by the level of debate all the pupils showed."
