CATCH talented up-and-coming violinist Mathieu van Bellen performing with the Southgate Symphony Orchestra at the Bourne Methodist Church this weekend – before he becomes famous.
“His name will be in lights in a few years,” says conductor Adrian Brown, who has been leading orchestras both here and internationally for 40 years.
The concert will also feature Mendelssohn’s Fingals’ Cave and Schubert’s Symphony No. 4, with each piece introduced by the reputed Friern Barnet conductor. “It’s important to understand the context,” he tells me. “It makes the music more friendly.”
The SSO will perform at The Bourne Methodist Church, The Bourne, Southgate on Saturday, November 28, 7.30pm. Tickets: 07092 879097 or www.southgatesymphony.co.uk (£6-£8)
