INSPIRED by memories of his own family home in the ‘60s and ‘70s, artist Michael McMillan was the curator of The West Indian Front Room for the Geffrye Museum in 2005, which attracted 35,000 visitors. Concerned with the role front rooms play in shaping our identity, he then presented a BBC4 documentary on the subject and last month released the book The Front Room: Migrant Aesthetics in the Home.
This Friday, he will visit the arc Gallery, in Tottenham for a screening, discussion and q&a session followed by poetry and live music.
