The boy who never grew up flies into The O2 this week as Peter Pan transfers to the Greenwich venue for a special six-week Christmas run, following a sell-out spell in Kensington Gardens this summer.

Based on the classic children’s novel by JM Barrie, Peter Pan will be performed in a purpose-built circular pavilion and feature “the world’s first fully 360-degree projected movie for live theatre”.

Designed by William Dudley, the wrap-around cinematic projections, will take the audience on a 3D journey from the roofs of Edwardian London to the fantasy lagoon and make-believe world of Neverland, as Wendy Darling and her brothers follow Peter and Tinkerbell to the playground of the Lost Boys and Captain Hook.

Written by Tanya Ronder, the spectacular extravaganza attracted more than 150,000 people during the summer weeks, and with the applauded cast reprising their roles for the winter months before the show opens in San Francisco next May, it’s a success that is sure to be repeated.

Newcomer Ciaran Kellgren takes the lead as Peter, with support coming from Abby Ford (Life Begins) as the steely-but-caring Wendy and Jonathan Hyde plays the fearsome Captain Hook.

Peter Pan runs at The O2, Peninsula Square, from Tuesday, December 1 until Sunday, January 10. Tickets: 0844 847 2517 or www.visitlondon.com/peterpan (£19.50-£60)
