CHRISTMAS shoppers in the district are getting an extra present this year after the council announced it will offer free-parking over the festive period.
Epping Forest District Council has said all its pay and display car parks will be free on Saturdays starting from December 5, on Christmas Day, Monday December 28, and New Years Day.
Free parking will also be available in the Bakers Lane, and Cottis Lane car parks, in Epping, on Friday, December 4 between 3pm and 9pm for the town's Christmas market.
Portfolio holder for community safety and transport councillor Syd Stavrou said: “I hope that this relaxation of charges on these particular days will make it easier for those who have any last-minute Christmas shopping to do.
“I realise that in these difficult economic times every bit of help that the council can provide to assist retailers and residents is important and O hope this small gesture will help.”
