VULNERABLE people affected by the Cockermouth flooding have been sent a special gift by the Roding Quilters, who have themselves recently benefited from a charitable donation.
The Chigwell-based group have given 15 of their knitted quilts to babies, children and elderly people caught up in the Cumbria floods.
Recently, the group, which meets to knit quilts which are then given to vulnerable children, was boosted by a £400 donation from the Buckhurst Hill branch of Waitrose.
The Quilters were chosen for the money after they received a high number of voting tokens placed in Waitrose's nomination box.
Member Pat Thompson said: “Our sincere thanks to the community who added their tokens to our box. This was a splendid gesture and one we truly appreciate.”
Roding Quilters meet every second Tuesday at St Mary’s Church Hill in Chigwell High Road from 7.30pm to 9.30pm. For more information contact Carol on 020 8502 9191 or Pat on 020 8502 0106.
