FLOODING has closed several roads in the district this morning, while frozen ice from earlier deluges has caused a number of minor crashes.
The Ongar Road in Abridge and most of the main roads in Theydon Bois have been closed due to the conditions.
Epping New Road, Epping Road and Poplar Row have also been affected.
It follows major jams across the district earlier this morning following a broken down vehicle on the M25, which caused knock-on delays.
Owen Rowland, of Abridge Road, said the street outside his home looked like a "lake".
He said: "The road is completely impassable - it's not so much the depth of the water but the sheer volume of it flowing. And obviously whenever a car drives past everywhere gets covered in spray."
Mr Rowland says the problems on his street have been made worse by a blocked drain, a claim disputed by Essex County Council.
Details are still emerging about the crashes, but it is believed that several have also closed minor roads in the Theydon Bois area as well.
A further smash has been reported on Ongar Road near New Farm Drive.
