DOZENS of hardy families braved the wet weather to enjoy an afternoon of festive fun at a popular Christmas fair.

Visitors were able to forget about the wintry drizzle outside as they searched for bargains or tucked in to a selection of tasty Christmas treats during the annual event at Woodford County High School on Sunday November 29.

The fair also featured a Santa's grotto and a special chocolate market for those with a sweet tooth, together with eye-catching performances by a group of talented young dancers and musicians.

Betina Duffett, of Parents and Friends of Woodford County High School - which helped organise the event - said: "It's one of our biggest fund-raising events of the year and it was wonderful to have families coming to support our school.

"Our fund-raising efforts will assist in funding the conversion of the old gym area into a fine Information and Communication Technology centre for students at the school."

A £10,000 cheque was presented to Head Teacher, Helen Cleland, at the end of the fair - which will help fund the replacement of chairs in the school hall.

Bargain hunters will have another opportunity to search for hidden gems at an indoor boot sale being held at the school this Saturday.
