THE secretary of state for energy and environment visited Walthamstow to discuss climate change.
Ed Miliband MP met residents at Willowfield School, in Clifton Avenue last Thursday to talk about cutting carbon emissions ahead of the Copenhagen summit.
Labour prospective party candidate for Walthamstow, Stella Creasy, who organised the event, said: "Ed was really impressed with just how passionate and knowledgeable we as a local community were about the need to tackle climate change.
βIt was clear Walthamstow residents want the Copenhagen summit to agree cuts in carbon emissions and help for poorer countries to adapt to climate change.
"We also want help ourselves to move to low carbon lifestyles and I will be asking both local and national government to respond to the ideas participants put forward about how to do this.β
Anyone wishing to join a group going to the Stop Climate Chaos Wave demonstration on Saturday (December 5) in central London should contact Stella Creasy at stella@workingforwalthamstow.org.uk.
