A BID has been launched for the district to host an episode of the hit TV show Antiques Roadshow.
Staff at Waltham Abbey Town Council have applied to the BBC, which broadcasts the programme, to consider the area for the next series.
The hope is that an episode could be filmed either in Waltham Abbey or nearby, as the show has not visited anywhere in Essex in recent years.
Waltham Abbey Town Council clerk, Kathryn Richmond, said: "We think it would be a superb idea.
"The BBC have quite strict rules and regulations about how often they film in particular areas of the country, but we're hoping they will consider us."
The BBC are expected to comment later today on the proposal.
