A COUPLE accused of smuggling endangered Tortoises are due to appear in court tomorrow.
Michael Gates and Carol Wormley, both 42, of Woodend Road, Walthamstow, were arrested at Stansted Airport after arriving on a flight from Corfu on July 17 this year.
Both have been charged with one count of causing unnecessary suffering to a protected animal, six counts of failing to ensure animal welfare, seven counts of possessing an animal taken from the wild and seven counts of transporting an animal taken from the wild.
They are due to appear at Chelmsford Crown Court tomorrow (December 4).
