AS a Labour activist, I was shocked to read your report of the independent panel (Disciplinary action against officers under way after damning independent report, November 26).
In the period this report covers, councillors Loakes and Robbins have become distant from the local Labour party and never appear at local party meetings to answer questions.
They have become a party within a party, more obsessed with targets at the town hall and their own political careers than representing ordinary working people.
I’m sure Ed Balls, the children’s secretary, who has visited Waltham Forest several times, will now be keeping his distance from this scandal. Thanks to Nick Tiratsoo and the new chief executive, the lid has finally been lifted on their activities.
I only hope the Labour Party will now decide that they are no longer fit to represent us at the next local elections.
