WELL done Nicholas Taylor. (Angry drivers take on clampers – and win, November 26). Barely regulated and thirsty for cash, clamping companies get a virtual free reign to force hard-earned cash out of unsuspecting motorists.
I myself have fallen foul of their unscrupulous ways and have a claim pending.
Mr Taylor’s victory gives me hope that I may yet emerge victorious from the saga, which has caused no-end of grief.
The Government must tighten regulation to ensure clampers follow a strict code of conduct – including reasonable fines – and enable drivers to make a quick and easy claim against a penalty.
All too often the paperwork, unhelpful staff and the need to retrieve a vehicle deter many from kicking up a fuss.
