YOUNG dancers from the area have scored great success at a national competition.
Members of the Streetz Ahead came a fantastic third at the British Dance Troupe Championships in Wolverhampton, after progressing from the southern heats in October.
Michelle Hawkes, principle of Streetz Ahead, said: “Everyone was over the moon, the girls had all worked so hard. They performed a 60s mix consisting of 'My Boy Lolly Pop' and Lulu's 'Shout' in a funky jazz style, which really had the audience clapping along.
“The girls did me proud, they always do well in competitions and are always commented on what great energy they have.
“You can only teach the children so much, and the standard of the performance is shown through their energy and enjoyment of dancing.”
Streetz Ahead run classes in Woodford Green and Waltham Abbey. The troupe now offers free breakdancing classes for children aged 10 and up every Tuesday, after they received a grant from Sports Unlimited Redbridge.
