A JEWISH symbol of peace is due to be erected for the first time on a village green.
The Chabad Lubavitch Centre, in Buckhurst Hill, is setting up the Menorah at Chigwell Station Green to mark the Jewish Festival of Lights, Chanukah.
A local Jewish community centre run by Rabbi Odom Brandman, Chabad has been arranging for a Menorah to stand on Queens Road, Buckhurst Hill for the past four years, but this will be the first time one be will be displayed to the Chigwell community.
The new Menorah has been designed by Ashley Kennart, an A-level student at King Solomon High School, in Barkingside.
It will be officially unveiled in a public lighting ceremony on Thursday, December 17 at 6pm. Everyone is welcome to attend.
