FAMILIES are invited to bring along their unwanted goods to swap at a "give or take" day.
The event is being held by Forest Recycling Project in partnership with Chingford’s Children Centre and Waltham Forest Council, for people to get rid of unwanted furniture and bric-a-brac and to pick up something more useful.
There will also be environmental information, recycled arts and crafts workshop and activities.
Brian Kelly, from the Forest Recycling Project, said: "We throw away far too many things that could be reused or recycled, which means that our landfill sites are nearly at capacity and incinerators are burning materials unnecessarily that give off noxious fumes.
"We can all make an effort to recycle and reuse items instead of throwing them away."
The event is at Chingford Hall Primary School and Children’s Centre, in Burnside Avenue, Chingford, on Saturday (December 12) from 12noon to 3pm.
People can give books, toys, tools, bric-a-brac, paint, kitchenware, furniture, jewellery, ornaments, small electrical items, bikes and bike parts, and plants.
Cookers, clothes, hazardous or toxic items or second hand child car seats cannot be accepted.
Large items can be collected for free on Friday (December 9), and bulky items that are picked up at the event can be delivered free of charge on the same day.
To book a collection contact Forest Recycling Project on 8539 3856.
