MORE than 100 people gathered to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the district council's 50 plus leisure scheme 'New Horizons' at a party last week.
The project, which was first set up in 1984, provides a range of activities and events for older people in Epping Forest, including sport, dancing and trips to tourist attractions such as stately homes.
The party, held at Epping Hall on Thursday December 3, featured members and staff from the original groups in the 1980s and 1990s meeting up with newer recruits to the scheme.
Among those were Malcolm Wollin from Loughton, who has organised and taught bowls for 20 years, Margaret Weston from Loughton, who has taught yoga also for two decades, and Hettie Williamson from Epping, who has organised the ‘Stepping Out Club’ and local tea dances for the past 20 years.
