THE jury in the high-profile trial of a father and two uncles accused of the honour killing of a schoolgirl is set to retire to consider its verdict.
Father Mehmet Goren, along with his brothers Ali Goren and Cuma Goren, all deny murdering 15-year-old Tulay Goren in 1999, and conspiring to kill her boyfriend Halil Unal.
The trial, now in its tenth week, has heard how some members of the Goren family were allegedly angry at Tulay's relationship with Halil, who was twice her age and from a different branch of the Islamic faith.
Tulay, a pupil at Woodbridge High School in Woodford Green, vanished in January 1999.
She was never seen again and her body has never been found.
The prosecution argue Tulay's father murdered her because of the family shame over her relationship, but say he could not have acted alone without express permission and help from his brothers.
The defence say Tulay ran away from home and could be living abroad.
They also argue there is no evidence she was actually murdered.
The judge in the case is expected to finish his summing up today, with the jury probably being sent out later today or tomorrow (Thursday).
The court is not sitting on Friday.
Mehmet Goren, 49, of Navestock Crescent, Woodford Green, Ali Goren, of Brettenham Road, Walthamstow and Cuma Goren, of Evesham Avenue, Walthamstow deny all charges.
