A SCHOOL caretaker turned professional singer is toasting his success after his latest single soared up the charts.
Father-of-four Sam Millar, 46, from Woodford Bridge, swapped his life mopping floors at Coopersale Hall school in Epping for that of an international recording artist earlier this year, after the Guardian supported his efforts to record an album.
Sam's latest single 'House Full of Love' entered the New Christian Music Eurochart at number eight and the UK Hotdisc Top 20 at number four this week, and he hopes this is not the end of his success.
Sam said: “The single went straight in at number four so I was so pleased, and I'm hoping that, God willing, next week it'll be number one.
“I couldn't have done it without the support of the Guardian. Through the publicity I got, I was given the gig at Haven House earlier this year and then that lead to me being able to go out to America to record my second album.
“I've got a few more shows coming up, supporting some of the biggest country singers in Scotland, and I'm trying to get a tour together for next year and have some promoters interested already.”
Sam's album 'Saturday Night' is available now. For more information and to listen to his music, visit sammillar.com.
