A REVIEW will be carried out into how the council deals with hate crime.
The authority will work closely with disability groups to review how the SafetyNet partnership, which encompasses the council, police and other agencies, can be improved.
The review was ordered following the case of Fiona Pilkington, who killed herself and her disabled daughter Francesca after suffering ten years of abuse.
A coroner found that multiple failings on the part of the Leicestershire Constabulary and Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council had contributed significantly to their deaths.
The council will consult disability groups and charities on what lessons can be learned from the tragedy and how practices can be improved.
Cabinet member for community safety, enforcement and protection, Cllr Afzal Akram, said: "I hope we never have a case as harrowing as the Pilkington case in this borough and we are determined to do everything we can to make sure our processes and procedures are robust and effective enough."
The results of the review are expected to be published in January.
