A GROUP of kind-hearted young musicians have put on a special Christmas concert to raise money for learning disabled children.

The Snowball Concert was performed by 11 students and staff members at Redbridge College - to generate funds for a new mini-bus and specially adapted toys for three special schools, including Little Heath in Ilford.

The youngsters, who are all studying for a BTEC First Diploma in Music, played a medley of new and old Christmas and chart classics at the event last night (December 8).

Pete Herbert, assistant curriculum manager for music at the college, in Ilford, said: "I think it's really important for our students to get involved with helping others, and raising money for a worthy cause such as the local special needs schools.

"It's an excellent way of making sure that they become socially responsible adults.

"The kind of equipment these schools need to buy - such as specially adapted toys - will have a huge impact on the youngsters who use them, and we are glad to help make that happen."

Little Heath School caters for children with learning, language and communication difficulties and special educational needs between the ages of 11 and 16.
