STAFF at a pub will be collecting unwanted Christmas gifts to send to orphans in Thailand.
The Queen Elizabeth pub, in Forest Side, Chingford, will be collecting the presents from Boxing Day until the end of January.
The appeal is part of charity campaign Project Re-Gift, which has been launched to co-incide with the fifth anniversary of the devastating Asian tsunami.
Half of the gifts will be taken to the Baan Tharn Namchai orphanage in Khao Lak, one of the worst affected areas during the tsunami.
The rest will go to UK charity KidsOut, for children fleeing domestic violence.
Emma Ayres, Queen Elizabeth manager, said: “We’re hoping that our customers will embrace the true spirit of Christmas and donate their unsuitable children’s presents to our campaign, giving kids who aren’t so lucky, a happy New Year.”
All gifts donated must be new to comply with regulations.
