A WEEKEND in a sports car was the prize on offer for ladies that lunch when they came to South Woodford for a Christmas party in aid of the NSPCC.
The Switch Bar in George Lane South Woodford turned over their premises to the 80 women who raised £1,335 for the charity between them.
A raffle saw new member Mary Deery win the weekend in the Mazda which was donated the Romford dealership.
Branch chairwoman Dianne Whittaker said: “She screamed when she won it but she’s an environmentalist and doesn’t drive. Her husband will take advantage of it though.”
The branch meet four times a year and their next event will be a charity auction in February.
