A TRAILBLAZING campaigner took his fight over better provision for disabled people to the Prime Minister yesterday (December 15).
Sulaiman Khan, 24, of Spring Gardens in Woodford Green, visited 10 Downing Street to hand in a petition on behalf of the Trailblazers, the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign’s pressure group of 16 to 30-year-olds.
He also met members of parliament including Ilford North MP Lee Scott to launch the group's Inclusion Now report, which examined disabled people's access to transport, education and leisure services.
Mr Khan said: “This is the culmination of a year’s hard work investigating the state of the UK’s facilities for disabled people.
“Our investigations show there is a lot to be done to give disabled people the same experiences on transport, in education and at leisure venues as our non-disabled peers.
“I hope this petition and the launch of our Inclusion Now report will be the catalyst for change.”
More than 60,000 people have muscular dystrophy or a related condition. For more information on the condition and the Trailblazers campaign, visit muscular-dystrophy.org/trailblazers.
