FREE fitness classes are being laid on for overweight youngsters in Redbridge in a bid to cut the borough's burgeoning obesity problem.
Health bosses have launched twice weekly sessions for children aged 8-13 years aimed at improving their fitness levels and helping them shed those extra pounds.
The MEND programme - which kicks off on January 19 - will give youngsters the chance to get involved in a wide range of weight-loss activities from physical games to lessons on healthy eating.
The move comes after new figures revealed one in five residents in Redbridge are now obese.
