A PROJECT is underway to help to get women into construction jobs on the Olympic site.
Women into Construction project has created training and employment opportunities for women on the Olympic Park construction site.
Women are under-represented in the construction industry and the project has supported 111 women into jobs on the Olympic Park.
This brings the total of women on the site to 270, which is six per cent of the workforce, compared to the national average of two per cent.
The project is funded by the London Development Agency (LDA) and Construction Skills and offers targeted support, training and encouragement to women.
ODA Chairman John Armitt said: “The Women into Construction project is an important part of our commitment to leave a jobs and skills legacy for east London and the wider construction industry. "
