LIFE during the Second World War was vividly recreated by primary school pupils when they set up their own wartime museum.
Children at Shelley Primary School, in Ongar, have been studying the war for their term project and constructed various models, toys and objects from the period which they then showed off to senior members of the community.
To research the period the pupils visited the Imperial War Museum and interviewed elderly residents at nearby Finch Court about their experiences.
The Finch Court residents along with members of High Ongar British Legion and parents then visited the school, in Milton Crescent, to see the children's work which included model Anderson shelters, essay-work and a Powerpoint presentation.
Headteacher Lesley Lewis said: "I was proud of our pupils who shared their knowledge with people who had lived through the Second World War. We were grateful to everyone who visited the museum making it a real community event. It is important that young people today remember what has happened in the past".
