POLICE will not be investigating a possible stabbing because the victim said he caused the injuries himself.
The emergency services were called to Kingswood Road, Leytonstone, at the junction of Kings Road, to reports of a man dragging himself down the street and leaving a trail of blood.
The 26-year-old man had leg injuries and was taken by ambulance to Whipps Cross Hospital.
Police were called to the scene last Thursday, at 4.15am after being alerted by the paramedics.
But when they arrived, the victim stated to that he had injured himself and made no allegations against anyone, a Met Police spokeswoman said.
Mum of four, Daisy Eaton, of Kingswood Road, was walking her children to school the following morning when she noticed blood all over the pavement in Kingswood Road, where police had cordoned off the road.
The 25-year-old said: “There was blood all over the pavement and it was trailing 100ft down the road. You could see that someone had staggered down the road and then lay down in a pool of blood.
“There were two police officers there and they said there had been a stabbing. It was quite shocking to see, because it is normally quite quiet up this end of Leytonstone.”
