SINGERS from a Woodford Green school were in fine voice as they raised a fantastic £1,200 for charity last night (December 18).
Pupils from Bancroft's School held a festive concert at St Mary's Church in South Woodford, with the Junior Choir and Bancroft's Singers chamber choir entertaining the audience in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support.
The pieces performed ranged from the haunting ‘O Magnus Mysterium’ to the well-known ‘Winter Wonderland’, and the Junior Choir’s rendition of ‘The Shepherd’s Tap Dance’ was particularly well-received.
Roger Bluff, the school's musical director – who previously held the post at St Mary's – also performed a solo piece, before encouraging the audience to sing along to some favourite Christmas carols.
The performance was dedicated to Kathleen Whitfield, who died earlier this year, and had always been an enthusiastic local supporter of the Macmillan charity.
