A MOTHER and her young son were among hundreds of terrified passengers stuck in the Channel Tunnel for hours after their Eurostar train broke down.
Tracey Carageorgis and her son George were left stranded for more than nine hours as engineers tried to fix the problem on Friday - according to reports.
Ms Carageorgis told The People newspaper that she and her son were returning from a special Christmas break at Disneyland Paris when their train came to a halt in the tunnel.
The 48-year-old from Woodford Green said she was terrified that a terrorist attack had taken place as they were left sitting in pitch blackness on their carriage.
The pair entered the tunnel at about 9pm - but were only picked up by a car train at 6.30pm, more than nine hours after their ordeal had begun.
They finally arrived back in London at 11am after getting on another train at Folkestone.
