FORMER street warden Frank Charles delivered gifts to sick children at Whipps Cross Hospital this afternoon.
Mr Charles organises the annual Give A Gift Appeal, which sees shopkeepers donate presents to children at the Acorn Ward at the Leytonstone Hospital.
This year 70 presents were collected and given to grateful children.
Mr Charles, who says he launched the appeal in memory of his late son Ashley, said: “Once again I would like to thank the shopkeepers of Leyton, Leytonstone and Walthamstow for their generosity. Times are hard with the recession but they still contributed.”
Mr Charles was previously part of the council's street warden service, which was axed in the summer.
He begins a new job with Sure Start in the new year.
