AN “INNOVATIVE” driving course which uses psychological theory to help learners pass their test has been trialled at the University of East London (UEL).
The test, which has been developed by psychologist Dr Jonathan Passmore, is aimed at improving road safety, especially for 17 to 25 year olds.
The five-day programme sees drivers carry out self-evaluations.
Dr Passmore said: “UEL is trying to help those in the driving development industry make the shift from old traditional methods to using what we know from research to improve the overall learning experience for learner drivers.
“This includes using techniques such as coaching which can help learners not only understand what to do, but why they are doing it.”
The university is running the course again in March, visit www.uel.ac.uk for more information.
