RAIN, sleet and even a bit of sun are predicted for Christmas day in the district as temperatures begin to warm.

Epping Forest has escaped the severe weather warning issued by the Met Office to most areas of the country today, as the snow and ice from earlier this week begins to melt.

Those hoping for a white Christmas will be disappointed, as occasional bursts of sunshine and much rain are predicted over the next four to five days.

Most key routes have now recovered from the earlier horrendous weather, but ice remains in some smaller roads and pavements across the region.
