A NEW information board giving an account of the history of Hale End has been put up outside a Highams Park pub.
The board was installed outside the Royal Oak at the junction of Oak Hill and Hale End Road, after being designed by Waltham Forest conservation officer Guy Osborne.
Highams Park Society treasurer Andrew Golds said: “It is illustrated by maps and photographs of some of the old buildings like Beech Hall, The Chestnuts and Forest Hall that used to be in Hale End.
“Some of the pictures will be familiar from our recent exhibition, Lost Properties.”
The exhibition, held earlier this month, focussed on the grand old buildings that once dominated Hale End and Highams Park.
