THE charity appeal for the maternity unit at Whipps Cross University Hospital is now being backed by a national food retailer.
Waitrose supermarket, in South Woodford, is supporting the cause, known as the Big Push appeal, as part of its Community Matters scheme.
The Community Matters scheme aims to give financial support to local causes and also tell customers about the work the groups do.
Customers are given special green tokens at the checkout and asked to place them in a box at the store exit to vote for the cause they want to support each month.
The Big Push appeal's target is £350,000 for equipment and improvements in the maternity department. The unit saw 5,200 babies delivered last year and another 5,000 families are expected to use its services this year.
You can place your nomination for the Big Push appeal from December 29 to January 30 at Waitrose, South Woodford.
