A LATE-NIGHT bar threatened with a licence review by police has hit back at suggestions it is a violent crime hotspot.

The Guardian reported earlier this month that Minx, in Loughton High Road, was due for a licensing review after a report authored by Inspector Tim Simons of Essex Police linked it to 31 crimes including one of Grievous Bodily Harm and two sexual assaults.

But Minx premises supervisor Nadeen Din said: “We are the most reasonable people in the world with a five year track record of working with all the regulatory bodies.

“We are a local business which has paid taxes running into six figures over our history and have suddenly been victimised and bullied.

“Surely I should be in a position of having advanced notice of disclosure of all of these reports.

“The Minx Bar is situated on the corner next to two car parks, directly opposite a late night kebab shop, in between two late licensed venues, close to a taxi office and London underground station.

“Incidents nearby the venue do not necessarily mean that they are related to patrons of Minx."

Mr Din said he had met police on October 26 to discuss his bar.

He added he had been asked on November 29 to attend a further meeting on December 2, but was not able to do so as he was in hospital at the time.

Essex Police has said Minx is responsible for 60 per cent of all crime relating to pubs and bars on Loughton High Road.

A police spokesman said: “We monitor licensed premises along with a number of other agencies and police them appropriately.”

A date for Minx's licensing review has yet to be set.
