FIVE men were arrested in Ilford over the death of a woman in a hit-and-run smash.
The woman, 20, was killed and four other people were injured in the crash in Palmers Green, north London in the early hours of New Year's Day.
They were hit by a white Honda car that mounted the pavement on the North Circular Road and the woman died at the scene.
A man and a woman were critically ill in hospital after the smash and another man suffered a broken leg.
Police officers and ambulance crews were called to the scene at about 4.25am.
Officers have said the Honda was believed to be heading eastbound with a red vehicle at the time.
After the crash, those in the Honda ran off while the red car did not stop, police say.
Five men, in their 30s, were arrested yesterday at an address in Ilford over the crash.
Anyone with further information is urged to contact police.
