ABOVE-inflation Tube and bus fare rises have come into effect today.
Passengers using the Tube will see ticket prices rise by almost four per cent, while bus passengers face a rise of nearly 13 per cent.
Oyster pay-and-go users will also see a rise of 20p per journey on both buses and Tubes.
However, Oyster cards have come into use on mainline train routes, meaning cheaper fares.
Rail companies will set Oyster their own fares and combined rates will be brought in for journeys including national rail and Transport for London services.
London Assembly member Val Shawcross called the rises “outrageous” but London Mayor Boris Johnson said they were necessary to maintain Londoners’ quality of life.
