UNWANTED Christmas trees can now be disposed of at the click of a button after the council set up a new online collection service.
Residents are being encouraged to use the 'Report It' section of the authority's website - redbridgei - to book a pick-up date for their dilapidated pines.
A collection can be organised by filling in an online form, with trees due to be collected within 10 working days.
A council spokesman said: "Residents (are) asked to leave their pine by the edge of their property boundary.
"The Christmas tree collection service is the latest in a range of Council actions residents can request online using the ‘Report It’ application on Redbridge i.
"Dog fouling, fly tipping, graffiti, litter, untidy front gardens and broken street lights can all be reported to the council through the application, with residents also able to track how the problem is being dealt with.
"The ‘Report It’ application can be found on the Redbridge i homepage at www.redbridge.gov.uk.
"To request a Christmas tree collection, click on the 'request garden waste collection' option in the 'Report It' menu.
"Christmas tree collections can also be arranged by calling the council contact centre on: 8554 5000.
"Alternatively, trees can be taken to the Reuse and Recycling Centre in Chigwell Road, Woodford Bridge."
