OVERWEIGHT children can get back into shape in 2010 thanks to a new programme starting this month.
NHS Redbridge will launch MEND - which stands for Mind, Exercise, Nutrition...Do It - for children aged 8 to 13 on January 16 with the first of 10 weekly sessions aimed at providing practical information and tips on getting trim and staying in shape.
Among the help on offer will be advice on food including portion sizes, food labelling, supermarket tours to make healthy eating easy and improving behaviour and confidence.
According to the trust, 20 percent of people in the borough are now obese, and health officials say obesity is one of its greatest challenges in the year ahead.
