A POPULAR dance school has set the tone for its 10th anniversary year by putting on a memorable performance of Aladdin.
Members of the Alexandra Hughes School of Performing Arts performed the classic Christmas panto in front of packed houses at Woodford Memorial Hall.
Forty dancers of all ages took part in the spectacular production, which featured a wide range of eyecatching sets and costumes.
Alexandra Hughes, who set up the school in Broadmead Road, Woodford Green, ten years ago this October, said the panto was the perfect way to mark the beginning of a big year.
The 31-year-old mother-of-one, said: "We've had lots of good reactions to the show. We were all very pleased with it.
"About 260 people came to see us over the three days so the attendance was good too.
"We had people aged from four years to 61 taking part in the performance which was great.
"We've come a long way in the past ten years."
Ms Hughes, of Broadmead Road, Woodford Green, said the school's community ethos was still as strong as ever.
She said: "People pay to have lessons with us, so we are a business, but we are also very community focused.
"Most of the people who are here come from the area and we mainly perform locally.
"It's a great thing to be a part of and I hope we have a great new year."
