HUNDREDS of elderly people remain trapped in their homes across the borough because of the snowy conditions and freezing temperatures.
Pensioners, many of whom have limited mobility, have been unable to get to shops, community centres, churches and other amenities because pavements in their streets remain covered in snow.
The freezing temperatures during the past 24 hours have also disuaded many older people from leaving their homes.
Residents have been encouraged to check on elderly friends or neighbours to ensure they are warm enough and have what they need.
For one-to-one advice elderly residents can call Age Concern Redbridge on: 8220 6000.
