STUDENTS were honoured for their achievements at a college awards ceremony.
Sir George Monoux College held its fourth annual event, which saw hardworking students presented with Oscar-style trophies in recognition of outstanding success.
Students celebrated with proud parents, members of the community, sponsors and members of staff at the Chingford Road college at the event at the Walthamstow Assembly Hall.
Young people were recognised not only for academic achievements, but also for their diverse creative talents, with music students giving a special performance.
Award categories included Outstanding A-level and Vocational Performance and Student of the Year for every subject taught at the college.
There were also a series of overall college awards, including the prestigious Governors’ Award, which was won by Zara Akinpeju.
Master of Ceremonies, Matthew Bolton of social justice charity London Citizens said: “The awards ceremony demonstrated the star quality and collective effort of a college that contributes massively to the lives of students and to the whole community.
“Across the 150 member communities of London Citizens, Sir George Monoux stands out as a place with so much to celebrate and they do so in great style.”
Principle Kim Clifford said: “What a fantastic way to end the term. It’s just wonderful to see so many students celebrating their achievements together.
“It is events like this, where students, parents and teachers come together as a community, which makes Sir George Monoux College so unique.” Click here to follow the Waltham Forest Guardian on Twitter
