THE council has issued advice on how to keep warm during the cold weather.
The authority has said residents should “stay inside and keep their homes at a temperature of 18 to 21°C”
The advice also says: “If people cannot heat all the rooms they use, they should heat their living room during the day and the bedroom just before they go to sleep.”
Cllr Liz Phillips, cabinet member for health, said: “I’d like to remind people about the importance of checking that friends, relatives and neighbours are well during the freezing weather.
“Older people and those with long-term or serious illnesses are most at risk during colder spells.
“Make sure they're warm enough and have stocks of food and medicines so they don't need to go out.”
